White House Vignettes

Here we tell the culinary stories of the U.S. presidents, drawing upon the museum’s unique collection of documents and artifacts, from Washington to Obama. The current vignettes showcase the Bill of Fare from Abraham Lincoln’s Second Inaugural Ball; a banquet Ulysses S. Grant attended in Bangor, Maine, to celebrate the completion of a railroad line; the search for a chef at John F. Kennedy’s White House; and First Lady Michelle Obama’s healthy food initiatives.
